CLASS WILL NOT MEET OCTOBER 8

Beginning Spanish (will meet ONLINE the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, and will meet at The Center the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month)

This is a year-long course; Tuesdays, 12:45-2:00 pm

In this year long course we use Conversational Spanish in 7 Days by Shirley Baldwin and Sarah Boas since it focuses on the most common, everyday situations you’ll encounter in Spanish-speaking countries.  Everything is explained in clear, concise English so if you have to miss a class, you can easily keep up with what we are doing in class.  We meet every week, and spend about three weeks on each lesson:  during September-December we work with learning the present tense of regular verbs as well as adding in object pronouns, and then in January we work with some irregular verbs, then stem-changing verbs, and finally reflexive verbs as we talk about daily activities.  Come spring we turn to a past tense, the present perfect tense, and then look forward, practicing the future tense.  Finally, we end our year’s study of Spanish by continuing over the summer to work with the two simple past tenses.  In addition, for listening practice students will be watching 24 episodes of the wonderful series  Destinos, available on line.

If you are looking for a basic course in Spanish, and can commit to spending at least two to three hours a week (ideally 20-30 minutes a day!) studying Spanish, then this is the course for you!  But if you just want to learn a few phrases for travel, this course is more than you really want.  This class is on line, except for the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, when we  meet in person at The Center. Helen Ida Moyer is the instructor.
