Volunteering

Volunteering

Volunteerism is an important component of membership at The Center. Over 500 Center members are active volunteers either at The Center or at various nonprofits in our community. Some volunteers have regularly schedule volunteer shifts, like our Welcome Desk, Cafe and Volunteer Program leaders. We have a vast number of volunteer opportunities available at The Center for our members to choose from depending on their interests, talents and skills.

Many Center members volunteer in our community at places like UVa and Martha Jefferson Hospitals, Charlottesville Free Clinic, Gordon Avenue Library, Meals on Wheels, places of worship, etc. The Center members have a lifetime of talents to give to our community; they are valuable, vibrant and active citizens. The Center members give back to our community in countless hours of volunteerism, making Charlottesville a better place to live.

If you would like to become an active Center volunteer, email Bobbi Hughes, our Coordinator of Volunteer Resources, or call her at 974-7756. We will be happy to assist any members who are looking for a volunteer opportunity but aren’t sure where to begin, or those who are looking for a specific type of volunteer experience and want to get connected to an organization in our community. We have many volunteer positions that are currently open right here at The Center. We hope you will consider volunteering with us today! Click on the links on the right to see current opportunities.
