Volunteering

Volunteerism is an important component of The Center's mission. More than 500 volunteers are actively engaged at The Center and at dozens of other nonprofits in our community through our volunteer program. Center and community members can choose from a vast number of volunteer opportunities according to their interests, talents, and skills.

Older adults, with a lifetime of wisdom and experience to share, join volunteers of all ages to make Charlottesville a better place to live for everyone. At The Center, volunteers contribute more than half of the work it takes to keep the organization running. We also connect people with volunteer positions in our community at places like UVa Health System and Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville Free Clinic, Gordon Avenue Library, Meals on Wheels, and places of worship.

If you are interested in volunteering with The Center, please email Bobbi Hughes, our Coordinator of Volunteer Resources, or call her at 434.220.9755. She will be happy to assist those who are looking for a volunteer opportunity but aren’t sure where to begin, or those who are looking for a specific volunteer experience or organization. We hope you will consider volunteering with us today!
