May 20 Aging Gracefully: Part 1 – Staying in Your Home
What are the practical, health and financial considerations that you need to consider in order to stay in your home as you grow older? What resources need to be researched and planned for? Will you need to move or modify your home? What community resources are available to help you stay home and independent longer? What sort of additional costs should one plan for? We may also look at some new and alternative options!
Will not meet in June
July 15 Aging Gracefully: Part 2 – Independent Living and Continuous Care Communities (CCRC)
These communities are springing up all over and many are advertised as luxury, or resort style living for the rest of your life. Is that the reality? The offerings and contracts for such communities can be dizzying, and they vary from community to community. This might be a great option for you and --- it might not. Don’t sign on the bottom line without coming to this presentation to get the real scoop on all the fine print!
August 19 Aging Gracefully: Part 3 – Assisted Living and Nursing Home What’s the Difference?
Some people believe that they can check into Assisted Living or a Nursing Home like they might go into a hotel. Shop around, look at all the options, explore pricing…. That’s typically not what happens. More often a medical crisis results in hospitalization and from the hospital, folks are discharged to a facility to help with “rehab.” Following rehab, decisions have to be made about keeping the recovering, perhaps now frailer, patients, safe and working to improve (or maintain) their health. Can they go home? Perhaps. Maybe not. So then what? Learn about the differences between Assisted Living and Memory Care. “Health & Rehabilitation” facilities and Nursing Facilities. What are differences? What does it cost? Who pays?
Open to all.
