About Lorraine Momper:
Originally from the plains of Nebraska, I am drawn to the solitude of quiet scenes, the serenity and simplicity in the face of an animal or person, and the architecture of trees. The familiarity of an object makes us look past these things, but these images are the places where our minds escape to in the silence. They are food for the soul. As a self-taught artist I switch freely between subject matter, seeking the narrative of a painting. Through imagery and the interplay of color and light, I seek to tell a story by recreating a moment in time and a sense of 'place,' not just a generic image. Although I focus primarily on painting with soft pastels, I also paint with acrylic, oils, watercolor, gouache, and ink, constantly experimenting with new mediums, surfaces, techniques, and combinations of mediums.
Open to all.
