Painting Seascapes

6-Part Series | Wednesdays April 1 - May 6 | 2:00-5:00 pm
Students will create beautiful seascape paintings, using tonal value shifts, advanced color mixing techniques, and expressive brushstrokes and how to capture the energy of what we all love: ocean waves. This is open to advanced beginners on up and is open to all mediums. Students are welcome to bring their own image to paint, or Katie will provide one. $15.00 materials fee due to instructor.
Students can provide their own materials: turquoise, cerulean blue, ultramarine blue, permanent red rose, yellow ochre, lemon yellow, phthalo blue and green, white, black, burnt umber are the recommended colors; oil painters will need Gamsol odorless thinner in a lidded jar, paper towels, an array of paint brushes, liquin impasto, canvases, palette knife and palette. For water based painters: palette, variety of brushes, 140 lb. cold press (or better) watercolor paper (or canvas for acrylics), micro mister, tape, masking fluid.
