In this eighth presentation on the history of technology, MIT engineer, retired law professor, and patent attorney Henry Perritt will explain the often-forgotten technologies that made the Internet possible and that caused it to absorb most other forms of digital communication, allowing almost everyone to be connected all the time. He note that the recent advances in generative artificial intelligence are just the icing on the Internet cake.
