Introduction to Oils

In this class, you will be introduced to the joys of using the "Master of Mediums"- Oil paint. Students will learn how to use the paints, when to use linseed oil, solvents (Gamsol) and other mediums; how to mix colors and the foundations of building and painting from concept to completion. The student will learn a basic understanding of how to use oil paints and how to construct a painting. You will also learn how to develop an underpainting, one flower and one basic landscape painting.

Required Materials:
- oil paints in the primaries, white, burnt umber & sienna and black
- Gamsol in a lidded jar
- linseed oil
- #4, 8, 12 flat
- #4, 6, 8 filbert
- fan brush
- palette knife
- paper towels
- six canvases
- palette.
