Fundamentals of Improv
Next session: Saturday, November 2, 2024 | 10:00am-11:30am
Details:
Saturdays, November 2-23 (4 weeks)
Improv is great for encouraging and developing creativity, collaboration, and problem solving. We focus on breaking expectations and encouraging people's spontaneity and sense of play. Students will learn the basics of how to create and perform a story in the moment from practically nothing. Great for public speaking, building relationships, polishing acting skills, and just having fun.
This course focuses on developing the fundamentals of improv comedy as seen performed by “Whose Line Is It Anyway,” “Wild ‘n Out,” The Second City, The Upright Citizen’s Brigade, and Central Virginia’s own Bent Theatre Comedy. During each session, you will learn how to build stories, characters, relationships, and more from virtually nothing. Within this interactive, creative, and supportive environment, our goals will be to help you develop new abilities, grow in confidence, learn teamwork and problem solving skills, and (most importantly) have fun!
