Details:

WILL NOT MEET IN JUNE.

Beginning Spanish (will meet ONLINE the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, and will meet at The Center the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month)

This is a year-long course.

Tuesdays, 12:45-2:00 pm

In this year-long course we use Conversational Spanish in 7 Days by Shirley Baldwin and Sarah Boas since it focuses on the most common, everyday situations you’ll encounter in Spanish-speaking countries.  Everything is explained in clear, concise English so if you have to miss a class, you can easily keep up with what we are doing in class.  We meet every week, and cover about a lesson a month:  during September-December we work with learning the present tense of regular verbs, in January we learn how to use object pronouns, and then in February add irregular verbs, in March stem-changing verbs, and in April reflexive verbs as we talk about daily activities.  In May we turn to a past tense, the present perfect, and then in June look forward, to the future tense.  Finally in July and August we end our year’s study of Spanish by working with the two simple past tenses.  In addition, for listening practice, students will be watching episodes of Destinos which is available on line.

If you are looking for a basic course in Spanish, and can commit to spending at least two to three hours a week (ideally 20-30 minutes a day!) studying Spanish, then this is the course for you!  But if you just want to learn a few phrases for travel, this course is more than you really want.  This class is on line, except for the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, when we  meet in person at The Center.

Free for Center members.

THE NEW SERIES OF SPANISH CLASSES STARTS EACH SEPTEMBER .  Registration will open in mid August for the next series.

The instructor is Helen Ida Moyer.
