Cancer Caregiver Support Group
Next session: Wednesday, October 7, 2026 | 5:30pm-7:00pm
Details:
Meets the first Wednesday of every month beginning in October
Caring for a loved one with cancer can take a toll on your own well-being. This support group offers a safe, compassionate space to connect with others who understand the challenges of caregiving. Through facilitated discussion, peer support, and shared resources, you'll ease feelings of isolation and build tools for coping while caring for yourself.
Topics may include caregiver stress, changing family roles, communication, grief and loss, maintaining personal identity, setting healthy boundaries, navigating uncertainty, asking for help, and finding hope during difficult seasons.
This group is facilitated by Carolyn Mitchell Dillard. Carolyn brings both personal and professional experience to this group. She cared for her husband through seven years of illness with Lynch Syndrome, including colon and pancreatic cancer, and later supported her daughter through a colon cancer diagnosis at age 23. She holds a Doctorate of Ministry in trauma-informed care, is trained in pastoral care, and has led discussion groups on trauma, grief, and caregiver support. She has also participated in the Cancer Caregiver Coffees offered by Sentara Martha Jefferson.
Open to all.
