Come and learn the methods of master painter John Singer Sargent. We will be taking a deep dive into his famous portraits, examine his color palette, his brushes, and techniques as we create our own version of one of his famous paintings. Skill level: intermediate to advanced. Come and learn the secret techniques, philosophy, genius, and painting tricks used by 19th century painting master John Singer Sargent. We will take an in depth dive into his mind, his tools, and his paintings, and create a Sargent inspired painting of our own! We will be doing a watercolor study followed by an oil painting so students will need to bring a set of watercolors, watercolor paper, brushes, mister, and palette to the first class, and oil painting materials (oil paint, brushes, gamsol, paper towels, painting medium). Colors to have: Flake White, Cadmium Yellow, Vermilion, Cad Red Deep, French Ultramarine, Cobalt Blue, Viridian, Emerald Green, Ivory Black, Raw Sienna and Mars Brown. Additional colors when needed included Chrome (Yellow) Pale, Cerulean, and Cobalt Violet.
