October 27 - Globalization: Past, Present, Future
Take a broad historical look at globalization and why it continues to grow rather than recede, despite a resurgent critical outlook variously labeled parochialism, provincialism, hyper-nationalism, or America First. Bob Toplin explains why history points toward globalism's staying power, not its decline. A returning favorite, Toplin brings his signature wide-angle perspective to this timely topic.
Instructor Bio
Bob Toplin taught history at Denison University and the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and continued teaching courses at UVA after retiring from full-time teaching. He has published 11 books and more than 150 articles, and has provided historical commentary on nationally broadcast television and radio programs.
