Thomas Jefferson is known for excavating a Monacan Indian burial mound in Virginia, which is considered a significant event in American archaeology. Unlike the common practice of the time, Jefferson used a systematic approach to excavate the mound, documenting his findings and utilizing techniques like stratigraphic observation, which allowed him to study the layers of the burial site. Join local historian Rick Britton.
