Susan Von Hemert, MSW, will give an introduction and overview of mind-body medicine and how it can improve the lives of everyone, especially our senior community. Attendees will have tools, such as breathing techniques and meditation, that they can take from this program to allow them to identify stress and identify relaxation techniques to alleviate that stress. Mind-body medicine addresses trauma and how it stresses our bodies. The 5-session series will put into practice the model of mind-body medicine in a supportive group setting. Free and open to Center Members Only.
SUSAN VON HEMERT, MSW is a private practice Geriatric Social Worker with 10 years as a hospice Social Worker and Director of Social Work for the PACE, program of all-inclusive care for the elderly. Susan has completed the Professional Training Program with the Institute of Mind-Body Medicine in Washington DC. Susan is a Professional member of the Aging Life Care Association, and the National Association of Social Workers.
