Details:
The “Know Thy Neighbor “ (KTN) program is a series of engaging events designed to deepen connections. Each session features a presentation where a member of the Newcomers Club or The Center will share fascinating insights into their life experiences, careers, unique hobbies, passions and/or meaningful contributions to the community. Many of our members have incredible experiences to present, and this program provides a platform for those willing to generously share their stories. Interactive participation is a key element of these events, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience for all. There will be ample time for questions and an opportunity to connect with members at the conclusion of the presentation.
Whether you are new to the community or a long-standing member, KTN is a wonderful way to connect, learn and to grow within the community. If you are interested in being a presenter, or would like more information about Know Thy Neighbor, please contact Susan Albert (doctoralbert@yahoo.com).

- November 17th Speaker: Titled “Life in the Bike Lane: Living and Working in Pre-Xi Beijing". Diane and Steve Skalak will share life and work experiences from their 2 ½ year adventure.
 - February 26th Speaker: Karen Love, former Professor of English and Humanities will give a presentation entitled: “'Let’s just go and see what happens’:  A bold, curious, and sometimes foolhardy life.”

After growing up in Western Pennsylvania, Karen spent her professional life in the high desert of Southwestern Wyoming, a professor of English and humanities at a small college in Rock Springs. But during their forty years teaching in relative isolation, she and her anthropologist husband also traveled the world, where an interest in tribal cultures led them from Indonesia, New Guinea, throughout the Pacific Islands, South America, Soviet Central Asia, and ultimately to Easter Island. She says that hers are not stories you drop idly into conversation at a cocktail party, but she is happy to share them with the Charlottesville community.

Open to all.
