April 8: An overview of the Law and Ethics surrounding Military Action and Engagement. Join us for this timely topic as we welcome a retired Air Force JAG officer and current Duke Professor who will provide us wtih his thoughts on the legal and ethical considerations leading to the use of our military force. The floor will be open to questions. MG Dunlap, "Charlie," is a gifted teacher who served his country as an Air Force Judge Advocate for 34 years, rising through the ranks to become the Deputy Judge Advocate General. He retired in 2010 and was invited to join the Faculty at Duke University. He is an absolute expert on national security topics. During his entire career, his study, focus, and published writings have been on national secuirty, the law of armed conflict, the use of force under international law, civil-military relations, and ethical issues related to the practive of national secuirty law.
May 13: There will be a Virginia Congressional Update from our State Delegates Katrina Callsen and Amy Laufer and Senator Creigh Deeds sharing the legislative priorities and initiatives that will impact all Virginians.
June 10: Melanie Benjamin - The Center's Director and Leader of the Charlottesville Area Alliance (CAA) - discusses CAA's collaborative work to make us a more age friendly community.
