February 11 - Catching up with Last November's Election Results and Looking at the Multifaceted Issues and Races within the 2026 Election Cycle.
Join J. Miles Coleman for an in-depth analysis of the November 2025 election results and a statistical overview of the issues surrounding the State and Nationwide races that will be forefront in the news in 2026. The changing dynamics of our political process will be laid out with maps and charts to assist us in evaluating and understanding the challenges of the road ahead for voters.
J. Miles Coleman is the associate editor of Sabato’s Crystal Ball, the University of Virginia Center for Politics’ authoritative, nonpartisan newsletter on American campaigns and elections.
A political cartographer, Miles has generated a portfolio of thousands of electoral maps. Prior to joining the Center for Politics in 2019, Miles supported Decision Desk HQ, where he specialized in collecting and analyzing election night returns.

Join SSV for an informative discussion of the ways in which Seniors can avoid common healthcare scams.  This well respected and entertaining speaker will answer questions and provide you with practical strategies to keep you safe. 
Shawn Smith is the State Director of the Virginia Senior Medicare Patrol program. He leads a team of over 100 paid and volunteer staff that educate seniors on fraud prevention. Shawn is also the author of “101 Fraud Tips”, a guide to help seniors protect  their money and identity from scammers.
 
April 8 - An Overview of the Law and Ethics surrounding Military Action and Engagement
Join us for this timely topic as we welcome a retired Air Force JAG officer and current Duke Professor who will provide us with his thoughts on the legal and ethical considerations leading to the use of our military force.  
MG Dunlap, “Charlie,” is a gifted teacher who served his country as an Air Force Judge Advocate for 34 years, rising through the ranks to become the Deputy Judge Advocate General. He retired in 2010 and was invited to join the Faculty at Duke University. He is an absolute expert on national security topics. During his entire career, his study, focus and published writings have been on national security, the law of armed conflict, the use of force under international law, civil-military relations, and ethical issues related to the practice of national security law.
