Leaning into Abstraction - September

Tuesdays 1:00-4:00 pm, September 3-24 (4-session series)

Comfortable painting or creating, but you want to convey an emotion or sense of place instead of recreating a photograph?  This is an experimental class, taught by Ann Cheeks, with a goal of moving past representational paintings and listening to one's subconscious to create unique, personal work. Students will write and draw in Sketchbooks provided by the instructor. Students must bring their own paints, brushes, and markers (watercolor, acrylic, oil are welcome). Material fee is $25 due to the instructor at the start of class. Prime Members free, Standard Members $45, Guests $60.

Classes may begin with reading poetry or listening to music. This is more of a how to listen to yourself and get out of your head class than how to paint. Each person will have different goals and outcomes.

Cancellation Policy: If you find that you cannot attend a class after registering, please let us know by emailing programs@thecentercville.org or contacting the Welcome Desk. Due to the need to purchase supplies in advance, cancellations with fewer than 7 days' notice will incur the materials fee. No-show Fee: Prime members will incur a $30 no-show fee for any uncancelled registrations in addition to the class’s materials fee.
