The Autumn World of Walking

Tuesdays during September and October, 10:00-11:30 am

We all need to walk, just as most birds need to fly. But there’s more to walking than walking. Join Dan Kulund for a 90-minute activity where you’ll weave simple movements, called Motos, into a woodland walk. You’ll also practice good hiking form and try out many hiking stick maneuvers. Next, you’ll learn how to select a “sit-spot” and review what to do there. And lastly, you’ll master the alphabet walking challenge to fortify the “adult 3R’s” of recalling, retrieving, and remembering. Dr. Kulund is a nature field trip guide and was the orthopedic fitness advisor to Air Force Basic Military Training. Meet at the kiosk near the parking lot at Ivy Creek Natural Area on Earlysville Road. Free and open to members of all walking abilities.

Members only.
