This is a four week class on Tuesdays from 9-12pm - January 5, 12, and 19th and 26th.
Participants will get to know pastels by experimenting with different kinds of pastels on various surfaces through a simple drawing exercise. They will then learn how to sketch a simple landscape using basic shapes, lay in color on the surface & blend the pastels using different tools & methods. Prior experience with pastel painting not required.
Prime Members: free, Standard Members and Guests: $55.00. Materials fee 35.00 for all participants, payable to instructor at time of class
Jan Settle received her BFA degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and worked in the field of Interior Design for many years. She paints with acrylics, watercolor, pastels, and her new passion is Acrylic Paint Pouring. Jan is a member of the Blue Ridge Art League of Culpeper, the Mid-Atlantic Pastel Society (MAPS) and the Firnew Farm Artists Circle of Madison.
